Dr. Lowell Ackerman is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist,
an award-winning author, an international lecturer, and a
consultant in veterinary practice management. He is a graduate of
the Ontario Veterinary College and a Diplomate of the American
College of Veterinary Dermatology. In addition to his veterinary
training, he also holds an MPA from Harvard University, an MBA from
the University of Phoenix and a Certificate in Veterinary Practice
Administration from Purdue University/AAHA. Dr. Ackerman splits his
time between clinical practice and consulting. His favorite areas
for consulting include strategic planning, performance measurement,
marketing, promotion, staff education, governance and customer
service. Dr. Ackerman is the designer of the Business
Assessment Report Кard
(BARКSM),
a strategy for evaluating and improving performance in veterinary
practices. Dr. Ackerman is also one of the principal lecturers with
Universal Vet , providing
continuing education around the world.
Dr.
Ackerman is the author of 76 books (including “Management Basics for
Veterinarians”, “The Genetic Connection”,
“Handbook of Behavior Problems
of the Dog and Cat”, “Canine & Feline
Dermatology”, and for pet owners, “Happy Dog”, “The Contented Canine”, “Owner’s Guide to Dog
Health”, “Canine Nutrition and
Feeding”, and “Cat Health Encyclopedia”),
and over 150 book chapters and journal articles. Dr. Ackerman is
also the Editor-in-Chief of Five-Minute Veterinary
Practice Management Consult. He lectures extensively, on
an international basis. Dr. Ackerman is a member of the American
Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical
Association, the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, the
Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants &
Advisors, the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, and the
American Society of Journalists and Authors.
